Tiles or karndean?

For our hall way and our kitchen/diner?
Will one last/keep longer than the other?
Is one easier to keep clean, I was thinking about buying a steam cleaner but not sure if you can use it or vinyl?
I'm conscious tiles will be cooler underfoot and possibly quieter? But not sure what go go for

is it going on a concrete floor?

tiles are liable to move and crack on wooden floors and need a lot of preparation to strengthen them.

Tiles all the way if it is a concrete floor underneath ,but you have to be willing to spend enough to get a good quality one othewise they will chip easily when you drop something on them.

Karndean for warmth, kids falling on it and not hurting themselves and for cleaning.

We have had quarry tiles which looked good but are cold and the grout needs cleaning well as its a dirt trap. And anything dropped on tiles smashes.

The Karndean flooring is easy to clean, and if you get a good one looks brill.

Yes to concrete floor. It's a new build so nothing currently on floor.
I'm asking for our house we plan on moving into shortly.
We currently have a tiny kitchen with black tiles which is great as hides dirt very well but very cold underfoot and everything breaks as soon as dropped. I've lost count how much Pyrex I have broken!
Currently have carpet in hall which I don't want in new house as I'm pregnant so will need to bring buggy in so needs to be washable flooring.
Is karndean (or similar) better for children?

I prefer the Karndean and similar for kids. It wipes easily and dries quite quick. I find a sweep up with brush is enough everyday ( my kids are messy eaters, as is the cat and there's always playdoh bits about). Then I use an e-mop or do a 'proper scrub' when I think It needs it.

Needs a proper fitter.

We have it in the kitchen and the bathrooms.

Is one more expensive? Good quality tiles plus cost of laying vs karndean

We have just had karndean fitted.

There was a lot of prep involved, screening and boarding. It took 3 days in all and looks fantastic and is warm underfoot.

It was a lot more than tiles though, more than twice the price.

I have rhino floor vinyl (wood effect) just done and am delighted with it. Much much cheaper than karndean. You might think vinyl is tacky but I really am pleased. Might be worth a look.
