How do I dry a really chunky jumper??

DH has got a really nice chunky jumper, but it takes so long to dry that it always smells a bit musty and damp after I've washed it, and now I can't get the smell out. I've tried tumble drying it cold and putting it on the radiator/heated towel rail thing. He wants to bin it now but I'm determined to find a way to wash it (not least because it was bloody expensive!).

Any thoughts would be much appreciated...

Flat on a towel by radiator?

Put it on a towel on the floor, put the other half of the towel on top, then stamp on it. Gradually roll up the wet jumper in the towel and keep stamping. It's like wringing it out, but friendlier to the wool. Then lie it out flat on a dry towel in the airing cupboard or across a radiator...
