Cif mousse shit

I need some help

Firstly, we have a white double shower, have tried cif mousse as it said 'spray leave rinse' did this and bigger all happened. Had to get in and scrub the bastard. We live in a hard water area so water marks drive me mad. We use a squeegee but it's not enough. I don want to spend a fortune and the less chemicals the better.
So I need a bathroom cleaner that WORKS (DP a builder so bathroom gets mucky)

Next, bathroom floor tiles are almost a matt finish? Not shiny anyway. Any ideas for cleaning them? again, something that work and if possible less chemicals.

Also if anyone knows of a REAlLy good steam cleaner (floor handheld and windows all in one) id love a recommendation. I've been lookin at h20 x5 but read mixed reports.

Get a water softener...

A water softener for the shower?

yes, a water softener will prevent the limescale which sticks to everything and holds the dirt.

One for the whole house will also make the kitchen easier to clean, and your hair, skin and towels will be softer. You will also save money on cleaning materials.

Honestly, it is the only solution.

You could try Lakeland for some of their cleaning products. They tend to be a cut above the supermarket stuff.

Where can you get a water softener? Does it need to be professionally fitted?

it is as easy/difficult to fit as a washing machine in a house that has never had one before (so you need to fit new valves and waste hose) with basic plumbing skills.

You can get one in a DIY shed or from a plumbers merchant, or from an ad in the sunday papers.

the ad will be the most expensive, the shed will be the cheapest in both senses of the word, and you will probably have to throw it away when it goes wong.

My suggestion is that you look in the phone book for a local water softener co, there usually is one. Start by asking if they repair water softeners, and what their charge is, and do they deliver salt. If they do, then they probably also assemble and sell softeners, and will install and service the ones they sell. It will cost some hundreds of pounds. Get one with an internal water meter that automatically regenerates after X litres of water have passed through it.

Put it next to the incoming water main and stop-cock, often in a corner of the kitchen. You will have to tip a sack of salt into it ever month or two, these are very heavy and the salt is corrosive, so put it where it is easy to access. It must stand on the floor not on the bottom shelf of a kitchen cabinet.

Have your salt delivered, don't carry it in your own car. When you look inside the delivery van you will see it has lots of rust and holes in the floor from tiny salt spillages. If you can't lift a 25kg bag of salt, ask how much 10kg bags cost (it will work out dearer). Some small machines take blocks of salt.

BTW I got my last one, reconditioned, from this Ebay seller in Essex, and have been very pleased with it. If you have a combi boiler it is worth asking for the larger hoses and valves as they allow more flow and cost little extra.

In the meantime get a squeegee and microfibre cloth and train your dh to squeegee and wipe down shower after every use. This works really well and no chemicals.

Tesco do it. I think their bathroom scrub stuff (like cif) is great.
