poo in carpet

My ds2 has a horrible tummy bug and pooed on my bedroom carpet on monday morning. ive cleaned it and cleaned it and it still smells. any ideas what will help lift the smell.

i've tried dettol, normal cleaner, talc????/

Bicarb for the smell .Cover it with bicarb and leave overnight.

What colour is the carpet?

it's dark blue and quite a deep pile - always been really hard to hoover for some reason

Drat, dark carpets can be a bugger. Perhaps use a firm brush to really grind the bicarb in, leave and then I'd use an attachment to lift it out.

that carpet spray in the fuschia-pink plastic bottle. It really works.

Try not to use a brush as it will frizz up the carpet pile. You can work the foam in with your fingers the back of a spoon.

I use Dr Beckmans - it has a brush on too of the bottle and is amazing.
If you use a carpet cleaner and still have a smell problem then I would treat it the same way as cat pee - if the poo was runny it could've gone through to the floorboards. Go to petsmart and get Simple Solution Stain and Odour Remover. You pour it onto the area so that it gets through to the boards and I've found it really effectively gets rid of nasty smells. Don't put too much on though - you don't want it damaging the ceiling below.

Try asking in your local pet shop for something. I posted earlier on here about wee smell on tiles but after a bit of research rang a local petshop who recommended something called Totalcare. It's a spray with enzymes that break down the smelly chemicals in urine, faeces, blood, vomit. they use it all the time and I have to say that the vets never smells bad and they must see a lot of animal mess.

For carpets, you have to soak it right to the carpet backing then let it dry naturally (you would need to spot test first).
