Cleaning the baby carrier

We have a baby bjorn carrier which we LOVE. Instructions say to wipe clean only. Its fetid. Its beyond fetid. Its been sicked on and gummed more times than I can remember. A wipe or rinse under the sink aint going to cut it!! Will it fall apart if we stick it in the washer? Can I soak it in bleach? How the devil do you get them really clean??? Would be nice to have it spotless for DC2 but dont want to shrink or otherwise spoil it as they are pricey to replace.

never used a bjorn carrier but have used lots of slings etc i always put them in a pillow case and washed on a gentle cycle and they were fine :)

Ours is nearly 7 years old and has been used for 4 kids so been through the washing machine on the hand wash cycle with a little powder many times. Put a towel in with it to deaden the noise of the plastic clips on the drum. Very slight fabric fade but fair enough given the number of washes.

We were given a second-hand Bjorn so I was a bit less precious about it than if I'd bought one new. Washed it loads in the machine. It did fade, but did not fall apart.

Excellent :) I dont mind if it fades to be honest, as long as we can still use it
