cleaning mouldy stain off cream carpet

something spilt unseen under some drawers and I have found a mouldy bit on the pale cream carpet. When we bought it they said you could put neat bleach on it and it would be ok but before I start chucking bleach around I wondered if anyone had any great ideas about removing a mould stain? I havent got a steam cleaner but would that do it?
thanks in advance!

it sounds like you mean it is a polypropylene carpet. they are very tough

I'd start with an ordinary carpet cleaning spray, the one in the fuschia-pink/mauve bottle is very good.

Don't scrub it or you will scuff up the pile. You are supposed to dab and wipe it away. But for an ingrained stain, I have found you can rub the foam in with a finger-tip without scuffing the surface. Best wear gloves. Hoover it up when dry.

If it is black mildew, then yes, bleach or milton will kill it and once dead it will clean up easier. But I would start with the mildest cleaner and see if thatr does the job.

Bleach may attack the underlay so don't apply enough to soak in.

thank you, I will try that, thats what I was worried about the beach ruining the the underlay.
