Perfume tasting plastics from dishwasher

I've noticed the kids water bottles and a silicone cooking spoon taste absolutely foul, I think they're absorbing the fragrance from dishwasher tabs. I admit I'm not brand loyal, tend to get finish or fairy but also been using up some lydl ones.
So...

  1. Can I get taste out of plastics or do I need to bin it (recycle but still seems a shame), hand washing doesn't seem to make any difference.
  2. Are there any less perfumed brands - are ecover any good? Don't like the thought of all those fragrances all over my plates really!
  3. Shall I just not put plastics in dishwasher? I don't normally but water bottles seemed like they needed a good hot wash iykwim

Thanks for any help :)

avoid the lemon ones, they linger. I can't think what else would be perfumed.

I don't have any trouble with the Aldi tabs.

Are you using salt and rinse aid? It usually gives the best results.

Plastics are OK in d/wrs but may go cloudy or get strange white marks.

Another vote for Aldi tabs. Or the Tesco Naturals ones, which I switched to after having the same problem as you when I used to use Finish tabs. Aldi price now wins over Tesco's eco credentials now though!

Ok thanks I'll check those out, an Aldi just opened here.

Also didn't use salt and rinse aid as been using 4-on-1 or whatever they are maybe should still use them
