How much to get a sofa cleaned

I have a dfs sofa not expensive. £600 two years ago it's in the family room and dies get a hammering. Anyway some very chatty chap just gave me a quote to clean it £250! I told him in no uncertain terms the sofa probably is not worth that anymore and I couldn't afford it. Really annoyed as he kept me talking for over an hour and blathered on about all sorts. Anyway how much should it cost... It's a 4 seater sofa with footstool?

I don't know but I'd be interested to find out!

I have 2 dfs sofas in the front room - a 3 seater and 2 seater and despite being brown they are looking a bit scuzzy well loved, but not £250 worth of dirt!

Assume covers dont come off? What about the Vanish foam stuff? I used that on a fabric tub chair that DS unfortunately threw up on and it came up a treat Smile

I think a few years ago we paid about £90? Could you hire a steam cleaner and do it yourself?

May try with a steam cleaner... Not that I have ever done it before. Is it easy? I wouldnt mind paying £ 75/100 but still shocked at £250 and the awful man! Turns out my friend had him visit her and shooed him away too!
