How do you wash your bras?

Whenisitmysleepytime · 12/09/2012 12:55

I used to just bung them in with everything else at 40.

However after spending £50+ on 2 bras Shock I feel I ought to take care of them. They both say handwash.

So what's the best way to wash them? Handwash ing is a PITA!

Thanks! :)

Nah, I bung them in with everything else.
And tumble dry too.

Put them in with everthing else. All of mine from Primark to Aubade. All Good.

I used to handwash...

Now I put them in a pillowcase and bung it in the washer.

bung em in with everything else, but I make sure to do up the hooks so they don't catch on other items. However, my last 3 bras cost £17 Shock £5 and £3 respectively - if they were posh ones I'd put them inside a pillowcase like the other wise ladies which would also prevent embarrassing plumber-related incidents when the underwire escapes and gets stuck in the washing machine!

Mine go in

these from Lakeland

at 40 degrees

I usually hand wash my R&P bras but occasionally I will put them through a 30 delicates wash inside a net bag thingy.

does the machine damage underwired bras? I'm never quite sure.

What's the problem with hand washing a couple of bras?

Just show them a bit of Fairy Snow, rinse and hang up.

newpup · 12/09/2012 14:20

Mine are supposed to be hand washed and are expensive Fantasie ones BUT realistically that is too much hard work! I put them in on a hand wash cycle on 30 degrees and a gentle spin. They are fine and have not damaged the bras or the machine.

Kaloobear · 12/09/2012 14:27

I use the same thing as Pesto. More to protect the machine from the underwire than the other way round to be honest.

GobblersKnob · 12/09/2012 14:30

I hand wash all of mine and my undercrackers too. Is not really any fuss, I use Woolite.

MousyMouse · 12/09/2012 14:34

I have an old pillow case with zip just for bras. they then go into the normal 40º wash.

MousyMouse · 12/09/2012 14:35

the mashine doesn't damage underwire bras - it's the other way round.
plumbers can tell many a tale about wires destroying washers...

AdoraBell · 12/09/2012 17:57

I do mine by hand, but passivelyWink, I just leave them to soak in a bowl of cool water with fabric softener and a very small amount of detergent. I've found they last much much longer this way.
