am moving to new house soon, which will include a pantry in the corner (about 85cm/85cm around the corner iyswim).
i'm a keen cook, but don't seem to keep a tidy kitchen... my current kitchen is very small and i've definitely not made the most of the space. the new one will be bigger and i'm concerned i'll fail there too!!

please could you help me with your best planning and organising kitchen and 'pantry' tips?

Ooh lucky you! I'd love a pantry. One thing I did once I had a bigger kitchen was to have 2 of everything in the store cupboard, eg boxes of foil, bags of pasta, flour etc. That way you can have one in use and one spare. As soon as you use up the first one, put it on your shopping list. I pride myself on never running out of stuff!

Also be ruthless - if you're never going to eat those cans of soup in a flavour no-one likes, give them away!

Put your herbs & spices in alphabetical order - I know it's a bit sad, but it's really time-saving if you own loads!

thanks, willing... i wanted to have one lof those spice drawer things next to my cooker but it can't fit in on the plans so herbs and spices will definitely need somefurther thought... i'm quite excited by the corner pantry Smile

Herbs and spices in narrow racks on the inside of one of the cupboard doors. That way they don't take up any shelf space. Our 'larder' cupboard has these, and then the cupboard shelves have a central indent so you can see cans etc along the sides and backs but the shelves themsleves aren't so deep that things get 'lost' at the back.
