How do you get candlewax out of a carpet?

Oh, on form this morning.

I have just knocked a lit tinned candle all over my hideous brown nylon needlecord carpet. It has landed in a fan shape and looks like I have been studding eager stallions in here.

How do I remove it? I am currently shaving said carpet with a Stanley blade but there are bits.

I would put some kitchen roll over the wax, then fill a hot water bottle up and lay it over the paper to soften the wax. keep arelay of hotties on it til it is melted and has soaked into the paper! good luck!

Iron it off - put some brown paper over the wax, put your iron on a low setting, when the iron gets hot run it over the paper. The wax melts and sticks to the paper.

Ive used this method many times :)

Heat and some absorbant material is definitely your friend. Just be careful as too much heat would also melt your nylon carpet. I would try the hot water bottles first (and I would probably use boiling water in them) and if that fails then try the coil iron.

It was oddly satisfying to do and came off no bother. I finished it off with a light scrub with very hot water, some bio liquid and a cloth. Looks and smells lovely!

Thank you.

And here was me about to say that when my Great Aunt did this, she just re-arranged the furniture :)

Well, it now has a rug theme happening. Grin
