Connecting a dishwasher

Have never had a dishwasher but my parents have just given us theirs, as they are having a new kitchen put in. The previous owners of our house did have a dishwasher and mentioned that the plumbing was all done for one, so I'm just wondering how easy it will be to connect it?

My mum said we should get a plumber in, but my dad says we should be able to do it ourselves. Any advice?

You just need to connect the cold feed water - it will be similar to your washing machine - and the drain. The drain hose should connect into the U-bend of your sink drain. Have a look and see if there is an obvious place where the previous one was connected.

You also need to plug it into a power outlet.

We managed it ourselves last weekend and we are very poor DIYers. We did need to pop out to buy a pair of pipe pliers half way through because our spanners couldn't grip the connections adequately.

Ooh, thank you - sounds like we might be able to do it ourselves then. :)
