How do you clean your fridge shelves?

LadySybildeChocolate · 02/09/2012 13:39

I have a whirlpool fridge freezer, and the shelves are a real pain to clean as there's a plastic coating around the edges which has developed gunk underneath. I've tried a cocktail stick, but I can't seem to get under the edge to clean it. Any ideas? Confused Thank you.

I stick mine in the dishwasher.

InMySpareTime · 02/09/2012 13:43

Put them in the dishwasher if they come out, otherwise unclip the plastic front and run a cotton bud along it.

SuoceraBlues · 02/09/2012 13:46

Take off the plastic thingie.

Cotton wool bud (damp) run around in slot of plastic thingie for degunking

All in dishwasher.

Argue with plastic thingies when trying to get them back on.

take them out, put in sink, hot water, WUL, nylon brush.

InMySpareTime · 02/09/2012 20:04

That'll go in the dishwasher.

LadySybildeChocolate · 03/09/2012 18:16

I tried that, Piglet, it didn't work. Then I put them into the dishwasher, it's done a great job but there's still little bits under the seal. They look far better then they did before, so thank you Smile Wine

Ok, how do I get rid of the stench of bleach? Blush Half a potato and a chopped up lemon isn't working.

Half a lemon dipped in salt. Works for fridge destinking, mould and upvc windows.
Rinse off with damp cloth

LadySybildeChocolate · 03/09/2012 20:21

Mould? I have some on the seal around fridge number 1 (don't ask). Does it get rid of the coloured spots?

I love mumsnet Thanks
