Ikea Hemnes - can you get a desktop PC in it?

This bureau, as recommended on other threads, looks fab, and I am imagining a life without visible office clutter.

We don't have a laptop so I was just wondering whether it would work with a desk top computer - screen in the top, box in the cupboard underneath. Anyone who's got one, what do you think?

How big's the screen?

Sheila · 02/09/2012 08:33

It's a small flat screen, around 16" across I'd say. Not much bigger than a laptop screen I guess. What do you think?

Haven't seen this! Love Hemnes range. All I will say is it's bigger than you think

No chance of getting to a store to see?

I'll get my tape measure out. You'd only have the bottom section (the £200 version)?

Sheila · 02/09/2012 10:31

Well, would love the whole thing, but yes just the bottom. Was more worried about the base unit and the wiring between the two. I'm not very near to a store so any opinions gratefully received!

Ok, so the space in the drop down bureau bit is 32cm high and 60cm long. There's a hole through to the cupboard below, which then has space behind the two shelves to run the wires down and out from underneath to the socket.

Not sure how tall a 16" screen is (that's the diagonal measurement, right?), but sounds like it might be a tight fit...

TheTermagantToaster · 02/09/2012 10:37

Long? Confused

I mean wide, of course. And the depth is 43cm.

Sheila · 02/09/2012 13:26

Thanks so much! Sounds to me like the screen would fit but the actual PC wouldn't go in the bottom bit if it's shelved. I'll just have to bite the bullet and get to a store to look.

Oh, you could just not put the shelf in when you build it! :o

TheTermagantToaster · 02/09/2012 20:46

Plus it's only one shelf, not two

LilllyLovesLife · 03/09/2012 11:10

I have one although not sure it's the same one you are talking about. I am actually selling mine but the likelyhood of you being local to me is very slim! I can easily fit a PC In mine, but as I say I am not 100% sure its the same one as I don't think they sell mine anymore. It is Hemnes though and a beurea with cupboard and shelves.

Sheila · 05/09/2012 18:57

Hi Lilly, where do you live?
