Washing powder or liquid?

Is one better than the other? Just wondering, have used liquid for years and years but am sure I read somewhere that powder performs better...

IMO powder is better but I'm not sure if that is true for all.

I have just started to use Aldi's washing powder - the one with that is like Ariel actilift, and its great and £2.99 for a 30 wash box!

powder contains bleaches and helps to keep the drum a bit cleaner. When I used liquids I used to get a slime build up that would make marks on the clothes and the problem was greatly reduced when I switched to powder.

Powder for whites, liquid for colours. Told to me by a senior research and development bod in the industry. Too much liquids will clog your machine.

I've recently switched from powder tablets to Ariel liquid and am finding that it gives really good results.

Powder cheaper - and more likely to have offers.

Plus much better for washing machines esp in these days of using lower temps as the water isn't hot enough to fully dissolve the liquid and leaves the slime other posters are talking about. And it can make your clothes smell.

If you must use liquid, do a maintenance wash - empty, at 90 degrees, at least once a moth.

I used liquid for years, but changed to pwder about a year ago - agree with vodkaanddietirnbru it's better for the machine.

I use powder. With liquid I just keep glugging it in because the amount just doesn't seem enough.
