why there is all the fuss about Dysons?

We bought one a couple of years ago as DH wanted one and I had no strong feelings either way.
Why is there all the fuss about them? They are over priced, and totally not awesome in their performance as far as I can see. I find the hose bit awkward to use, and its really heavy.

I want to buy a henry - cheaper, lighter, more effective (my mum has one), AIBU?!

I hate my inherited Dyson. Big, heavy horrible thing.

I bought a Dyson back in '98 - it was the original model and was considered state-of-the-art at the time. The bagless design and being able to see all the dirt it was removing from the carpets was quite a novelty. It did perform well and was still Freecyclable when I got a new cleaner 8 yrs later, but the technology has been copied and improved upon since then, plus it was about as noisy as a jet engine, and James Dyson can fuck right off with his 'woe is me, it's too expensive to manufacture in the EU and have to pay people proper wages' shite. Angry

Funny you should make comparisons between Dyson and Henry....

I recently sold the former on EBay to get a Hettie....

SO much lighter, simpler, and no regrets!

i used to have a henry, it was useless. the day i got my dyson i hoovered with the henry and then went over it with the dyson - i couldn't believe the amount of dirt that came out of my regularly henry-ed carpets.
