Help! Red wine sick on cream carpet :(

So there is sick on landing carpet, cream wool berber carpet.

I have washed with biological detergent and stamped on it with a towl to dry. The red stains seem to have gone but we are left with dark wet looking patches.

My next options are 1001 carpet mousse or vac steam cleaner. Help! We are moving out soon and I don't want to have to replace it it's under a year old!

Steam clean is the only way! DH did the honours on red wine on our landing carpet once. I did what you did, but the stain kept coming back. The only thing to get rid once and for all was a Rug Doctor!

Ok vax it is, should I bicarb or anything first?

I don't think there's any need really. The steam should be enough to take any smell with it!

Good luck!

I need to know who threw up red wine sick on you hall carpet before I advise.

I am the rug doctor btw.

I couldn't possibly say.

DH is furious. We are moving soon. We have rented this house eight years, never risked the deposit and now with four weeks to go I have ruined everything!!

slosh white wine on it. Works a treat. Not sure if it works as well on dry stain

If its at all damp then use copious amounts of salt

White wine does work but then you have to worry about damp marks, salt really does work (memories of 18th at home)

Mysaucepansdontmatch · 28/08/2012 08:57

Ok so I'm going to steam it then salt it.

There are about five big patches.

To be fair I think I ate something manly at the carvery as well, I was really really poorly.
