Rug cleaning

Good morning all, I have two gorgeous Laura Ashley rugs (see below)

I have one of them professionally dry cleaned but the result is very patchy and it still looks grubby in places. Have any of you had success cleaning these yourself? They are the floppy, faded, antique-looking sort.

Looks delicate. I'd do it with a RugDoctor steam cleaner on its upholstery setting, which you can use for thick curtains and sofas etc. It's a cheap and reliable way of cleaning carpets imho.
