The plastic under the turntable of my microwave has completely worn through...

..Is it safe?

Under where the turntable wheels are the plasticy metalish layer has worn through completely, it's not that old but very well used Blush . It's practically impossible to clean as it's all coming apart under there and looks pretty rank. It worries me if it's OK/safe still though because of this, I know you have to be careful and you're not suppose to use them if you drop them but now I forget why Hmm

I had this a few weeks ago, tried to clean it, with flash spray with bleach, thought I was doing really well getting all the rusty bits off only to find that I'd actually rubbed a hole right through and could see my worktop - needless to say I binned it and got a new one, sainsbury's online had a half price sale, not sure if it's still on, so in answer to your question, no I don't think it;s safe as it could be the same as mine and one rub away from a big hole at the bottom !

Same thing happened to mine so binned it straight away. Always buy microwaves with uncoated stainless steel finish now to (hopefully) avoid it happening again.

It calls for a new one?

Think I'd ditch it too. I've got a Tesco value one which has held up great over the last few years.

Yes, I just wondered if I was being OTT by getting a new microwave as this one does actually work - DH usually makes a fuss about these things if it is still in working order Hmm
