5-10 minute jobs around the house

I'm trying to make a list of quick jobs that I can do around the house, that make a noticeable difference. So far, I have:

clear kitchen worktops and wipe done
put a wash on done
put a wash away
clear surfaces in a room done
put recycling out done
clean loo
clean bath (that DH did last night craply, cross face)
hoover downstairs
hoover upstairs
dust stuff
remove 5 items of clutter from house, or put them where they should be (hot water bottle away, tumble lint in bin)

Any others? DD is at nursery, I have no paid work to do so am trying to blitz house rather than sit and read Wifework Grin.

Sit and read Wifework. Your daughter will benefit in the long run (I expect! Haven't read it Grin)

Shine the sink!

Line things up at right angles Grin

i hav devised a new plan, i do the main things like you everyday, but i now allocate approx between 15 mins and half hour for the extras. for example 15 mins to clean a light fitting, 15 mins to clean down 2 radiators ( i live on the edge
the thought of tackling everything at one go makes me hide, taking small jobs in bitesize pieces makes sure i keep on top of most things. my house is far from spotless but i now enjoy my down time because i feel in control of the chores

My motivator for a house blitz is a list. I put the smallest of jobs on it (or break down a bigger job into little jobs/parts Wink) so I can convince myself it's not so bad if I've managed 12 jobs in the first 1/2 hour or whatever Grin

clean a light fitting ?
clean down 2 radiators ?
Shock
I am obviously a slattern - I have never done either in my life!

Slatternismymiddlename · 25/08/2012 11:45

Romilly - come hither to the slatterns thread. I also have never washed a light fitting or a radiator, but attempting to learn to care!

chopsfordinner · 25/08/2012 12:31

  • clean the hob
  • clean a kitchen cupboard
  • empty and clean windowsill and dust any objects
  • replace lost buttons on shirts/trousers etc.
  • polish shoes
  • if nice weather air a duvet
  • water plants
  • wipe doorframe and door
  • clean all lightswitches

To be honest their are lots of 5 minute jobs ...
