Lingerie laundry - handwashing: really??

After decades many years of living with M+S scanties in varying shades of grey, I am now the proud owner of 2 decent bras. With matching knickers, no less!
The bras were not cheap, but are not couture either (Bravissimo). No silk, just good old polyester and stretchiness.

So, do I have to handwash them? Or will a lingerie net in the washing machine on a gentle cycle do?

I just cannot stomach the thought of handwashing undies, particularly knickers, yeuch!

I have relatively nice underwear (mid range, not cheap but not the most expensive) and I bung them in the washing machine. The wire seems to pop out of it's casing after about 8/9 months but I think you are supposed to buy new bras fairly regularly anyway if you lose/gain weight as they then won't fit properly.

I try to avoid handwashing and so far didn't have too many desasters.
underwire bras I put in a pillowcase with zip to avoid expensive washing mashine repairs.

I always wash my undies in the washing machine. I am meticulous about separating colours though, and my whites stay white. My bras never come to grief in the washer either. Why would they?

Thank you, all Smile.

Every label in my new undies says 'handwashing only'.

Bunbaker, apparently the underwires can work free. And destroy the washing machine, hence pillow case (good tip, thanks!) or lingerie bag
