Henry hoover malfunction

My ten year old Henry hoover made a very funny noise today when I switched it on and smelled of burning rubber.

I've not had a single problem with it ever. I am in shock Grin

Any ideas what it could be -do you think it's just old age, fixable or should I replace it with a younger model?

I just got a Hetty with my double clubcard voucher and I love her

10 years is a good innings though. If you know anyone handy is might be a simple repair , if not I would put on Freecycle for spares/repair and someone will whisk it away for you.

oooo will check out Hetties thanks

we had an issue with ours - sounding very similar. We found a repairer in our local market hall and he fixed it for 12 quid Grin Ours also older than some of our dc, so probably about 7 or 8 years old.
At 10yrs old yours has cost you less than a tenner a year. could be time to retire him and get a younger chap?

I don't think the Henry has a rubber drive belt like an upright would to cause that smell and noise

Might be the motor bearings are worn out, they would screech and overheat

Obv check filter is clean and there are no blockages, if not, yes, repair or replace.

thank you - I feel slightly disloyal replacing it for a younger model but c'est la vie
