Wood flooring polish questions

Yesterday I scrubbed one floor and then used the last remnants of beeswax polish I had on one bit and olive oil and lemon juice on the rest. The olive oil mix was recommended on the net.
This morning the oil bit is good, has sunk in but is not glowing. The wax bit is glowing but sticky! Plus it still pongs.
So I plan to do the kitchen floor today (my knees!). Any recommendation on what to use after scrubbing and if anything is brilliant for getting the stickiness off. Have tried polishing with a cloth, buffing with a shoe brush and kind of blotting with kitchen towel.
