Embarrassingly filthy oven

My oven is minging I have to tackle it!

I've bought some Oven Pride cleaner (the solution and bag thingy)....is that good? Also, I live in an open plan flat, so kitchen is in the living room. I'm a bit worried about the smell and fumes. Was thinking about doing it in the evening and leaving it overnight.

Good idea? Bad idea? Any better ideas?!

Out of interest, how much does an oven cleaning service (e.g. ovenu) cost in total? .... I think one poster suggested £40?

It's costing me £42 to get mine done next week. If they do a good job then it's money well spent for me as I know I'm never going to do it myself.
