I'm making a right pigs ear of it. The badge is almost the same size as the pocket if that makes any difference.

Well.......I tried this last year and actually ended up sewing right through the blazer so there was no pocket iyswim
So don't ask me!!

That would seem to be the easiest way though!

Do I take off the felt backing?

Aargh!

I didn't I got a bloody great needle and rammed the bugger right through. I have to say it stayed on and the ds's have to use their other pockets.

Looks a dogs breakfast from the inside of the blazer though!

my mum used fabric glue, you have to touch it up every time its been through the wash
but realistically a blazer doesnt need washing often..

I would say use fabric glue....I got some from the scout shop for sticking badges on but can't remember what it was called. Once it's stuck on you could stitch it all the way round.

Our blazers came with the badge already on Grin.

I would leave the backing on.

Is there a zip near the pocket? I found one once and it made it easer to sew it on. Still a bit of a faff though!

I can't sew straight through because the only inside pocket is the other side so I'm trying to see around it. It's fine at the top but the bottom is really hard since the pocket is small. This is second attempt since first attempt was too wonky. Blush

Yes check for a zip anywhere in the lining. DS blazers had a zip along the bottom for the factory to open to embroider the badge on.

Unfortunately that doesn't work since it has to go onto the blazer pocket.

I am going to teach ds1 to sew. He has little hands Grin

Put your thumb into the pocket to separate it from the inside. Hold the badge in place with the rest of the same hand. Make little oversewn stitches all the way around in the same colour as the edging on the badge. Finish with three stitches in the same place.
