slow draining sink

Ok this may be the most boring thread ever but i need to know how to clear the pipes for my bathroom sink. Please help me i REALLY don't want to have to take the u bend off because i know it's going to be horrific. I need some serious Mn wisdom here.

Have you tried a bottle of sink unblocker crystals- they often do the trick.

Have you tried a plunger first? Fill sink with water, hold a wet cloth firmly over the overflow hole, then plunge madly to help clear it.

Failing that, the Mr Muscle sink clearing gunge or similar does work, try to get from Home and Bargains as it's expensive from supermarket. Have tried soda crystal but I didn't find them very effective myself.

I haven't tried anything yet, i was hoping it would get better on it's own . What brand of sink crystals? I don't think i even own a plunger but will add it to my shopping list.

thanks for the tip about the overflow that would never have dawned on me. I really am a bit behind in my domestic goddess training.

You could try baking soda and vinegar first, see if that shifts it before you buy anything. Just pour about a cup of each in and it will foam up. Leave for about half an hour and rinse out with warm water.

Tip down soda crystals followed by hot, just-off-the-boil water?

ooh i love a bit of baking soda and vinegar will definitely try that first. Not too keen on nasty chemicals. Cleaned my oven for the first time a few weeks ago and i looked like i was heading into bio warfare
