I was in the middle of posting a very similar thread yesterday but had to stop thinking about it because it gives me brain ache.

In our house, all of them apart from helmets get stuffed into the horrible old wardrobes in my bedroom. Not ideal, so watching with interest for ideas!

ladywithnomanors · 06/08/2012 09:50

We have no spare duvets or pillows, airbeds and sleeping bags are in the loft.
Shoes are in the bedrooms.
My sons bike helmet is in his room un worn as he hates bikes Hmm.
Suitcases/bags in the loft.
Coats/jackets in the wardrobes.

LynetteScavo · 06/08/2012 09:50

Spare duvets/pillows/airbed/sleeping bags etc -At the bottom of my wardrobe - not advised (they used to be in the airing cupboard, when I still had one)

Non everyday shoes - under stairs cupboard

Bike helmets -other under stairs cupboard, but they are sometimes hung up in the hall.

Suitcases/overnight bags- under my bed, but I'm thinking of moving them to the garage

Out of season coats/jackets - my wardrobe.

TeamGBIWI · 06/08/2012 09:51

Spare duvets/pillows/airbed/sleeping bags etc

All duvets/pillows are in cupboards at the top of our (fully-fitted) wardrobes. Sleepings bags - DC seem to have managed to lose all of them, so not a storage worry any more!

Non everyday shoes

All shoes in the bottom of my wardrobe, the less/rarely worn ones gradually get shoved to the back. Daily/frequently worn ones are stuffed under a small table in our spare room - which is where our wardrobes are; we haven't got round to getting wardrobes in our new bedroom - in our loft conversion - yet

DH keeps his shoes underneath the dressing table.

Bike helmets

The shed

Suitcases/overnight bsgs

Again, in one of the wardrobes

Out of season coats/jackets

We have a coat cupboard in the hall where all these are kept; DC tend to keep whatever they are currently wearing in their own rooms, either hanging on the back of their door or over the back of their chairs.

BloooCowWonders · 06/08/2012 09:52

Spare duvets/pillows/airbed/sleeping bags etc and out of season coats/jackets are in those vacuum bags inside suitcases/overnight bsgs in the loft.

Bike helmets hang on the handle bars of the offending bike.

Shoes/boots etc that are not in every day use and in shoe storage hangers in the wardrobes of the wearer.

GnocchiNineDoors · 06/08/2012 09:54

Only have one spare single duvet amd pillow - under stairs.cupboard

All shoes.on bottom.shelf / base of wardrobe

No bikes = no helmets

Suitcases - understairs cupboard
Overnight bags - on top of wardrobes

Out of season coats - I live in the North East so all coats have the potential to be needed on any given.day of the year. We therefore have a thick coat, a thin coat/jacket and a waterproof each on a hook

Level3at6months · 06/08/2012 09:55

I think my biggest headache is the non everyday shoes. There are lots and lots of them, all of which I desperately NEED. I've got shoe racks on the back of wardrobe doors, a big zippy shoe storage bag under the bed and still a mountain of them shoved in the bottom of a wardrobe Blush

ceegeebee · 06/08/2012 09:55

BornToFolk · 06/08/2012 21:47

Spare duvets/pillows/airbed/sleeping bags etc

Airing cupboard on landing along with sheets, towels etc. I don't have masses though

Non everyday shoes

In my wardrobe. All of DS's live on a mat by the front door. He's only got 4 pairs though!

Bike helmets

DS's helmet lives with his bike in our lean-to (runs down the side of the house and is a v useful storage space!)

Suitcases/overnight bsgs

DS's is in his room, the rest are in the loft.

Out of season coats/jackets

Some in the lean-to but I've noticed that some were getting bleached by the sun so I've moved most of mine to exP's old wardrobe

So, my storage solutions are a) have a lean-to and b) get rid of 1 member of your household...they perhaps would not work for everyone!

Shoshe · 06/08/2012 21:52

Spare duvets/pillows/airbed/sleeping bags etc
Space Bags and then in wicker trunk at top of stairs

Non everyday shoes

space Bagged and in smaller wicker trunk at top of stairs, summer clothes get swapped into them in the winter.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 07/08/2012 19:22

Hmm I'm not so different then... Was hoping someone would list something that made me think 'oh of course!' but unfortunately it seems my storage places are fairly standard Grin. A spare room and a car would help maybe but until then I'll just have to put up with stuffed full cupboards!
