Rejuvenating my tea towels...

They're all looking a bit sad. Dh seems to use them as the final stage of the cleaning up process, rather than just for drying up and, as a result, all have some rather unsightly stains on.

I was planning on soaking them in a strong biological washing powder solution, then washing at 60. Do you think this is likely to do the trick, or do you have a better suggestion?

Hey, you could try your idea and maybe using something like Vanish. Or if this doesn't work, buy some more? and tell DH that they for drying up!

yes to bio powder.
also add half a cup of soda crystals into the wash.
then hang them out in the sun haha to dry, which will make them brighter as well.

Soak overnight in bio, then wash at 90°, not 60°.

Excellent, will get some bio today. Thanks all! Powder rather than liquid?

And I do have some new towels i'm saving for when I move so i'll have to brief dh before then!

I swear by Ecover laundry bleach. Power that you add to washing powder in the machine. I have white facecloths that we have used for cleaning up baby/high hair/table/floor from BLW and beyond and they are still white 2 years on. (with the exception of blueberry stains, which I think no man can remove...)

Powder that you add I meant to say

CarpeJugulum · 02/08/2012 09:44

Napisan worked wonders on mine.

Blueberry stains can be removed when fresh by pouring boiling water through the fabric. Not sure it works on set stains, but might be worth a stab. I've bought bio powder and soa crystals now, so will try those first. Thanks :)
