Self Catering Pan Disaster - Please Help

SneakyBiscuitEater · 26/07/2012 19:01

We are self catering atm and we have managed to totally burn the bottom of a stainless steel pan by boiling veg dry and not even noticing the horrible burning smell. The whole pan base is nasty black crusty stuff that seems to be welded to the base.

DH has had a go with fairy liquid and elbow grease and managed to remove a very small amount. Is there a miraculous way of removing the black before we have to hand our keys back in the morning?

I have looked on the net and the usual remedies call for things like vinegar or baking soda, which I have at home but not here.

My genius idea involves a biological fairy liquitab, is this silly?

Help Thanks

handful biological washing powder then fill with hot water and leave overnight and it will come clean in them morning

No, biological washing powder is the way to go. Heat it up gently, then watch it work its magic...

Thank you Thanks both. The chalet now smells lovely with hot lavender and camomile on the stove top. Will have a poke later on with a wooden spoon.

Did it work?

If that doesn't work, try a little bit of oven cleaner on the bottom of the pan. Worked for me.
