Bleach mark on trousers, dye?

I have got a bleach spot right on the knee of my lovely trousers.

I know washing won't do it any good so I've bought some navy dye (they're currently sort of a mauve/brown/rust colour.

So do I use Dylon pre-dye on them, then dye, or dunk the whole trousers in a bucket of bleach so at least they'll be an even colour, then dye?

Please tell me there's something I can do!

They really do need to be an even colour before you dye, so as it was bleach that did it I would bleach them as far as possible. Any difference in colour before you dye will show up afterwards (here speaks the voice of bitter experience...)

can you not just use a tiny bit of fabric paint on the stain? or even a fabric pen if you can get one to match the colour?

I can never dye things successfully

If you dunk your trousers in a bucket of bleach, they will disintegrate!

Wear the spot with pride, I say.

I've done it!
I washed them, then left to soak in bleach for about half an hour. Kept having to prod them down as they kept rising and didn't want the colour to go uneven.
Put them in the machine for a rinse and spin, hand dyed them with Dylon navy blue and they're currently drying on the line!
Very pleased I've saved them!
Hand dyed them with
