I am a PA and seem to have landed a new job, governorship, second year at uni, 3 primary aged DS. I am organised but all of this is coming with huge amounts of paperwork.

Would it be massively anal to run a brought forward system at home.? I would need a large box or filing drawer I reckon because I store readings for the week as well.

How do you organise and please reassure me I am not alone in needing to be really really organised.

Miixemama you are not alone. Up until resently I had a fulltime job, was chair of governors, was studying partime and 2 Dc ( which I kept). I had a filing cabinet and book shelf of box files. The only way do all you are doing is to be super organised.

Wow Nonio, well done. Glad that I am not the only one.

Had a little giggle about you keeping the DC.

And.... Was it all too much? Did you feel you could do it all "well"?

I feel i am the sort of person who is a bit rubbish at everything if I am not busy, it is only when busy and having to allocate my time properly that I get anything done.

Most of the time I felt like my head was on fire... Not good at self assessment but I got a first at BA, an outstanding for governance, a promotion and my Dcs are well adjusted. So I guess so. I think if you the the kind of person that love busy or functions at their best when busy. It will be all ok. Remember to find an hour fore yourself every now and then.

OK. Let me expose my ignorance. What's a "brought forward system"?

mixedmamameansbusiness · 19/07/2012 10:53

TheRedQueen - it is a system of files (in a cabinet, lever arch file whatever suits) usually either number 1-31, Jan-Dec or 1-52 depending on your needs. Essentially any bit of paper that comes in and is needed for any given date goes into the relevant slot and you check it everyday to deal with things that need dealing with or pass on papers etc.
