Hi there so a few years back I had my vintage Ercol 3 piece suite reupholstered in cream (yes, I was young and stupid). It picks up dirt really easily but want to keep it as do love the colour. We had throws on it to protect it but looks so messy! Dp has now banned the throws. How can we protect the fabric? I don't think it is made of anything hi tech that would repel dirt. Is Scotchguard used for this kind of thing? Any help would be really gratefully appreciated...

Try scotch guard. Works a treat at repelling dirt and protecting fabric!

If you had it reupholstered did you have them make removable washable covers? Because that is the answer. And I have always had white sofas that (mostly) stay looking clean.

Thanks both! Will buy some Scotchguard sharpish! The covers are removable I would hope they are washable? But a bit scared to wash them in case they shrink and I can't get them back on! Just ruined a nice Egyptian cotton fitted sheet by washing and tumble drying - good housekeeping fail :-(
