Help me save my new dress!

I have very stupidly washed the bbq grill wearing my new dress and got a black mark right in the middle on the front.
I love my new dress, and I am gutted at the thought that I may have ruined it Sad.
I rubbed it in washing up liquid and put it in the wash.Have I done right and is there anything else I can do if the mark doesn't come out?
Please help!

See how it comes out in the wash. Do not tumble dry or air dry it until you can see that the mark has come out. If it hasn't come out, you can buy a special Stain Devil for removing grease. They're stocked in supermarkets in the laundry section. Buy and use asap.

This is really good stuff - got road tar out of canvas shoes and nylon dresses really easily:-

Thank you so much for your replies you two! Thanks

And.............It's come out! Phew!

I was very upset - I'm not normally a dress person, but this one looked proper nice, and I was so so cross with myself!

I will keep your suggestions for future use - if I'm ever daft enough to repeat the same stunt again!

With anything that's a greasy stain, I find that dousing it liberally in washing-up liquid before washing definitely helps. It even seems to help on tomato stains.

Glad it came out!
