Wee stained toilet seat

Any idea how I can get rid of yellow wee stains under the white plastic toilet seat? Have tried leaving kitchen roll soaked in thick bleach on it but it's not shifting!

we replaced. got one from hombase for £10, was in sale though so usually £20.

Vinegar has worked for me, but if they are old stains, may not work. I'd take the seat off and soak it good.
Or like fuckwittery said, just buy a nice new clean one in dull yellow...

or this one from Wilkinsons is incredibly cheap, and is quite solid.

It is made of white-painted MDF, and unfortunately the paint finish is quite poor quality on the edges. We bought two a couple of years back and the paint has cracked so I have got to replace them. Shame I've lost the receipts. Ikea do a similar one at about the same price, we have bought those.

A good quality plastic one that is thick enough to feel solid is more expensive.

Magic eraser sponges work brilliantly for this.

I wonder if bleach can cause a yellow stain? It can on china, it is a problem when people try to clean old plates and things, and the bleach gets in through a chip or crack.

Maybe that's the problem, I've been bleaching it to death! Think a new loo seat may be the answer and more frequent cleaning to prevent build up. Think it happened in the early days of having dd and dp doing a not so good job at cleaning!

Sometimes you can't just replace, if its a particular shape for example, as mine is. So I have had this problem and tried many things, this works best...

Clean as best you can. Then make a paste from bicarbonate of soda and water and put it on the stained area, you might need to sort of dab it on and get it to stick on a bit as a paste. Leave for an hour or more. Then scrub gently with a green scourer/washing up sponge. Works the best for me.

I have just tried the Flash Magic Eraser tip from above - FANTASTIC - ALL the old (v old) stains came straight off with a little rubbing - now seats look white and sparkly! Thank you!

Also- I'm curious, if you had the receipts, would you take back a TWO YEAR OLD toilet seat to the shop?! Sorry but my mind boggles!

Scrub with cream cleanser. One of those things that needs physical scrubbing, rather than chemicals IME.

I'd just replace it.

If that's not affordable, I'd try a solution of bio detergent and vinegar - remove it and immerse it, if you can.

And if you are replacing, since you have a young child, take the opportunity to get a soft close one!

Basic white plastic ones are quite cheap. I end up replacing them. Ds has a very bad aim and I cannot spend every day cleaning wee up!

Cream of tartar from the baking aisle will shift it- make a paste using water or vinegar to make an acidic paste. Rub it into the stains. You can also use toilet paper wrapped around the seat to hold the paste in place for a while

I replaced a toilet seat last week. Basic white ones from B&Q start at £4.

just put 2 toilet seats in the dishwasher- full cycle, and not much happened. Made a paste of neat bleach, vim, and bicarb, scrubbed it on and left for a few mins, and YELLOW STAINS GONE--HAPPY DAYS!!!
