Does anyone do certain cleaning jobs on set days?

Just curious really what other people's routines are?

I've started making a list of things to be done for the week and ticking them off, I've found it's helped motivate me more!

I'm wondering if I could improve by having set days for each job?

Depends on other factors for me - how busy the weekends were, if people are coming over and when etc. Major factor too is how much/little dh has done and who has more time off during week.

But, I do vaguely have a plan that i fit around my hours. Some others (usually bleach and mopping related) I only do when Dh has taken the kids out.

And yes, i find it extremely satisfying to be able to cross out something on my list.

Monday is change the beds day, Tuesday wash the towels, Wednesday wash the floors and clean downstairs, Thursday clean upstairs, Friday is shopping day. General tidying, cleaning the dining room floor (ds2 is weaning) and bathroom cleaning happen whenever they are needed.

I also have things that are done once a month that I have reminders on my calendar for, like maintenance wash for the washing machine, descaling the kettle.

Disclaimer: the above makes me sound more tidy and organised than the reality.

I like let it get really filthy and then a do a big clean from top to bottom so you get that 'totally fresh and clean' house feeling. I do this deliberately, honest...

I don't want housework take over my life., - I'm a WOHM (ive been swotting up on the MN acroynyms!!).. I MUST have a clean house otherwise i'm totally unrelaxed, but I refuse to slave away on my days off catching up. I don't have a set routine, but I try to avoid doing too much when the kids are awake.

Before i go to work, i would have put a laundry in and hung it out (indoors if chance of rain). When I get home from work I do a quick tidy up of living room/kitchen which take around 10 minutes. Once kids are in bed, i either vacuum (downstairs only and kids sleep through noise), OR i give everything a wipe down/scrub (surfaces, kitchen, bathroom etc). I alternate these tasks each day. Generally i dont spend more than 15 minutes doing this

By the time it's my day off, all that I need to do is change sheets, thorough vacuum and mopping and any less regular chores.

Btw does anyone know the best way to keep stainless steel kettles sparkly on the outside ? (i descale the inner, but no idea how to get rid of the dull outer)

Mondays and Fridays I hoover, mop and clean toilets
Saturdays changing bedding and towels
Sundays I do nothing but bare minimum
Food shopping Saturday very early
Dusting and tidying is left for Father Christmas or when IL comes to visit

If I have no list for my cleaning and a timetable... I do not clean WinkGrin

I clean downstairs on a mondays and finish off on a Tuesday so if any mums call it looks ok

Nothing on a wed

Thurs I do upstairs, and change towels

Beds are changed every week/10 days. Dc's every 2 weeks

Every day I wipe/ polish kitchen tops and sweep hard floors. I wash as soon as I have a load and iron 2x's a week.

Gosh I wish I could organise myself enough to do this but with pt work and a toddler meaning my time away from work at home is sporadic I just don't seem to manage it. I do, however, seem to spend an inordinate amount of time tidying and cleaning despite my house never feeling clean Hmm . I have approx things I do every week - eg sitting room gets dusted every week or two, dining room dusted the alternative week (or the same week if I get time), but hoovering/cleaning kitchen floor etc etc seem to be a practically daily occurrence. My only thing I do generally the same day each week is change towels and bed sheets - I like doing them on a Friday so I can celebrate the week end with clean sheets Grin
