Dear Housefraus..please help...
My washing always dries hard and everything seems to look like its been washed a dozen times. Wash everything on 30 mainly.. A friend lent me some baby clothes which smell lovely and are so soft...I must ask her...
I use Persil non bio liquid and Ecover softener (Ecover liquid seemed to make it worse) dry on the line whenever we can.
thanks v much for your tips!

I use fairy powder and fairy softener and tumble dry most stuff as line drying makes clothes and towels rough, and they irritate my ds skin.

I agree with the tumble drying. I've found it doesn't make much difference on what soap powder or other you use, towels always dry hard and scratchy if you don't t/d them. At the moment I've gone on to Fairy non Bio. I got a huge box. It was expensive but it's lasted for ages.

Tumble drying does make the clothes softer. You can still line dry but pop the washing into the tumble dryer for a few minutes (10 to 15 should do) to soften it all up before folding.

It's a Fairy household here and I agree that tumble drying is the only thing which makes the clothes really soft and cuddly.

I tend to line dry and then tumble for even just 10 mins to finish things off.

Is your softener drawer clogged? When mine broke on my last machine I switched to those Bold pouch things that you put in the drum.

PigletJohn · 03/07/2012 13:01

water softener.

Tumble dryer and Comfort.

My washing always smells luffly and is all nice and soft.

mummypud · 03/07/2012 13:08

fairy powder and softener , works , stops clothes getting bobbly too

bishboschone · 03/07/2012 13:10

It's the dryer that makes things soft . Also ironing can soften clothes up a bit .

Oh thanks all. I will order myself some fairy now..if only there was a fairy to do the washing. I have reclaimed the household since I am now on maternity leave!

My towels are like sandpaper! Dishwasher (which isn't used very often) has just dies, we're deliberating whether to replace it or get a tumble dryer. This helps, thanks!

A water softener.

It really is true.

Once you've had one you'll know.
