So I just spent a small fortune on a dishwasher and now my fridge freezer has died!

So I guess I need a new fridge freezer too. Ugh. Any tips on top, not too expensive, reliable models? Just a bog standard fridge freezer. Free standing, full height but ideally not too wide or deep (ideally about 60cm each way).

Just tried to sign up to Which? £1 trial but it kept timing out on me so I couldn't. Ugh. Again.

I could have written that myself, though our FF hasn't complete died just yet, just being so crap (freezing the salad drawers) that its costing us a fortune in ruined foodHmm

I can't offer much advice, only sympathy & an "it could be worse" - our hob & oven are also suddenly giving up the ghost too Shock - think we won't be getting a summer holiday this year :(

Though our current one is a Beko & its the 2nd one we've had where the seal & feezer drawers haven't lasted well, think we might avoid Beko this time round

They do that you know, they agree a death sequence amongst themselves, and once they've lulled you into a false sense of security- Boom, something else goes. Bastards.

Ha! So true. I'm just waiting for the washing machine to go now... Ugh. Sympathies back at you rockinhippy!

Ours has been freezing the salad drawers for years! This weekend it just stopped working for about one day! The fridge went up to +21 degrees and everything in the freezer started to defrost. Cue panic. Now it is somehow working again! But I don't trust it to last for long. Torn between quickly ordering cheap model and spending a bit of time researching it and trying to get something half decent.

And I'm ill.

:(

Is that the first sign it's on the way out, when salad and veg in the drawers go crispy or freeze?

PigletJohn · 03/07/2012 09:32

has it got a frost-free freezer?

PigletJohn · 03/07/2012 09:39

looking at the top few tall best-buys on "Which" (you can read it in your local library) best first:

Bosch KGN39VL30G £618 83%

Hotpoint FF7190EX £422 82%

Hotpoint FF7190EP £319 82%

These top three are all "energy saving"

note that frost-free freezers are more complicated so go wrong more often.
