Stinking upholstery in car

Windows were left open in our car in the rain the other night. It now smells foul (cabbagey). I've got all windows and the boot open today (rained all day yesterday so couldn't air it). Anything else I can do to improve matters? Nothing is actually wet/ damp now.

It probably is still wet in the cushions, but you can't feel it. You could try febreze and put a blower heater on with a little ventilation. Bircarb of soda is a good deodoriser as well. Sprinkle it on, leave for a couple of hours, then hoover it all off. You'll need A LOT.

lift out any removable mats

leave windows open on a good hot sunny day

all the time you see condensation on the windows, it is still wet. If you have i, use air-con (recirculating, with the windows shut) whenever you are driving, until all dampness and smell has gone.

You can Febrese the seats and carpets once it's all dry.

I love your optimism. A 'good hot sunny day' indeed! But thanks for the advice. I've been leaving the windows open while it's on the drive and will try air conditioning while in motion.
