Where do you keep your fruit?

DH is saying that we should be keeping all the fruit in the fridge so it keeps longer. I am saying with the fridge food for us and 4 kids apart from strawberries etc fruit can live in a bowl on the bench as there isn't enough space in the fridge. So can I ask where do you keep your fruit?

Grapes, strawberries and other berries would live in the fridge in this house. Everything else in the fruitbowl!

Grapes in the fridge but I'm also interested as I'd heard that if you keep apples with other fruits it makes them ripen/go off too quickly. So now we have bananas in a bowl and apples just on the surface. Could they just all go in one bowl?

Apples, bananas, oranges, pears..... fruit bowl
Berries and grapes .... fridge

Nearly all fruit lives in the fridge apart from the nanas, (that's what baby C calls them.)

Fridge except bananas

Soft fruit, like berries, peaches, nectarine, grapes, in the fridge. Apples, pears, oranges, mangos, plums, a few out so everyone knows there is fruit to be eaten and the rest in the fridge. I do tend to buy lots in one go.

Bananas always out, but seperate from the riff raff other fruits to avoid bruising. Melon also stays out so that it gets eaten.

ALL fruit OUT!

It has to taste room temperature, as though it's just been picked. (Yes, I know, fat chance.....)

And another thing.......why is/are fruit we buy in this country so flippin' HARD! It's not like this on the continent It's bought soft and ready to eat......

We are buying flippin' rubbish in this country.

Berries and grapes in the fridge, apples, oranges and bananas in the fruit bowls. Those keep perfectly well at room temperature for long enough.

Stone fruit- some in fridge, some in bowl depending on ripeness/quantity. eg if 'ripe and ready' were on a twofer, one pack in fridge to keep and the other in bowl.

Everything in the fridge except bananas. I like my fruit cold, and apples especially I can only eat straight from the fridge.

Berries and grapes in the fridge, everything out, in bowls on the counter.

Thanks for the replies. Have decided to move the grapes to join all the berries in the fridge as a start! Hopefully over the summer hols the fruit in the bowl will go down quicker with 2 of the kids at home all day instead of school......maybe!
