Moving House tips

Hello lovely mumsnetters Smile

I'm having to move house this summer. Luckily the new house is part-furnished, as is the current so no huge bits of furniture to move. The tennacy agreements also overlap slightly so we can move everything ourselves in a few trips. (And currently no DCs, waiting to ttc, so no worries about them.)

I just wondered if there's any tips you found particularly helpful in keeping organised during a move and avoiding stress and confusion?

Love to you all

Label, label, label.
Get friends to help.
Sling things like soft toys, etc into black bin bags and label.
Don't leave it till the last week to start packing, start NOW!

That is wonderful! Thank you Todaysagoodday, I love the binbag idea too - was terrified of lugging boxes as my legs are bad and I walk with a stick so had no idea how I was going to manage! Binbags sound much simpler for the lighter things!

If you get clear recycling bags, there is much less risk that someone will accidentally take a black bag of your favourite stuff to the tip.

You can also see what's inside without rummaging in the dark.

Same shelf of the supermart as the bin bags, similar size, in a roll.

Brilliant Grin Thanks PigletJohn (love the name btw)!

It's 3 and a half weeks until the move begins so starting tomorrow.
