Baby poo all over carpet.

Nappy free time has turned into a disaster, my 11 month old managed to do a humongous poo and traipse it all round the upstairs, grinding it in as he went. What's the best way to remove it - smell and the stain! Help! Thanks...

Whoops!

First I'd scrape any residue/solids up with kitchen roll and bin. Then get some carpet cleaner or pet mess remover for carpets (supermarkets will sell this - needs to be done asap) and spray onto the stain, work in with a scrubbing brush, then soak up with a towel/cloth nappy/muslin. Repeat until the towel/muslin is coming up clean. The smell might linger but as long as the cloth is coming up clean there is no residue there, so it's in the air.

If the smell remains on the carpet sprinkle some bi-carbonate of soda on it, leave for half an hour and then hoover up.

Vanish do a really good carpet cleaner spray. I always keep a tin handy. But only the bigger supermarkets seem to stock it.

Well the smell is non-existent...but there is a big stain. I'm going to tackle again tomorrow and hope we can get rid of it. Who knew so mug could come out of something so little?!

plain old vinegar works well too, if you need to try something else.

My grandma says Lidl carpet cleaner is brilliant; better than Vanish.

This happened to me today too! But small scale due to leakage. Fortunately it was in the room with mega deep pile; I sort of pinched it clean with a Parazone toilet wipe...

The absolute best spray on cleaner I've used is Carpet Power. DS1 once threw a bowl of Heinz Tomato soup over our sitting room carpet (don't ask!) and it totally removed the stain. I've never come across a stain it couldn't deal with.
