Brought up as a bit of a gas girl , but have to get new hob and am led to believe these are good. Anyone got any experience ? Obviously I am just old and behind the times such that I cannot believe a slab of glass can cook dinner properly ...... Confused

Love mine.

Super-quick response, very fast, easy to clean because nothing bakes on.

You may need new pans, though - test with a magnet, and if it sticks the pan is OK.

Thank you Cointreau ...

I think I am just put off by those electric under glass type hobs from years ago. However everyone is telling me these things are good. Thanks for letting me know your experience .

Induction jobs are great. Faster than gas, more energy efficient, easy to clean, look nicer, are much safer - they don't get as hot - you can take a pan off the hob and place your hand there after a couple of seconds - try that with gas or ceramic hobs or electric plate hobs.

The aren't as tough as gas though so you can't drop your pans on them from a great height - not for the clumsy.

Also you may need a separate cooker circuit wired in for the hob since it's possible that with all four hobs in use plus a double oven going you may exceed the amp rating of the circuit and you'd trip out the circuit breaker.

I love mine, had gas before which I also loved but it's quicker, easy to clean, goes to a much much lower heat than my gas, I could go out and leave something on so low it's like a slow cooker. You need to check your pans, that's the down side... But other than that, ditch the gas!!!!

I bought a single plug in induction hob when our oven broke a couple of months ago and it is amazing.

It heats up so much faster and has much better temperature control. Much more efficient than any gas or electric hobs I've used in the past.

OP - I LOVE mine. Honestly, it is one of the best things we have EVER bought.

Really easy to clean, nothing sticks on if you spill it. As mentioned, you may need new pans (we did) but bought a set from IKEA for about 50 quid. It is glass, so don't drop anything on it.

Brilliant. Brilliant. Get one!
