Can I machine wash the seat cover from my Mamas and Papas highchair?

The label says 'Wipe clean with a damp cloth'

It's fabric backed with a plastic/vinyl/PVC or something like that coating on it to make it easy to clean. Problem is that there is binding all round it which now has many many stains from previous meals tonight's tea (spaghetti bolognese) staining it. It just looks like it needs a really good wash. Like a spray with Vanish round the binding and a machine wash.

Am I going to wreck it if I just bung it in on a cold 30deg wash? Can I risk washing it at 40?

Please help quick because I need to get it washed, cleaned and dry before breakfast tomorrow morning!

No idea if it would survive the washing machine, but even if it did once or twice I think that would shorten it's life markedly.

I'd wash it by soaking it in cool water with bio washing powder in, then rinsing well. I've done this with my high chair cover and straps every so often for years.

Thank you, I will try soaking it instead. How long do you usually leave it for?
