How do I clean our mattress - bouncy/potty training DD!

Our lovely, only 2yr old mattress is covered, and I mean covered in huge tea/coffee/hot chocolate stains and recently quite a lot of wee accidents thanks to our 2yr old bouncing in bed with us most mornings. We do use a mattress protector but it's only a cheap thin one and it doesn't stop most things. I have been lazy and haven't tackled the stains at the time so they are absolutely set in now. My dad's a carpet cleaner and he gave me some coffee stain remover to try which helped a bit but it looks even worse 6 months down the line. I was wondering if a Vax steam clean would do the trick but I don't want to waste the money hiring one if it won't help. Any ideas from anyone would be great! Thank you.

i think id just get it out in the garden on a hot day and pour red hot water and scrub it, may take a while to dry tho. the thing is with most mattress protecters is that not all are waterproof, u need to get a waterproof one, wilkinsons sell them and thyre own brand are quite cheap and keep my beds dry. i dont think id waste money on a vax cos it wont be able to clean inside, probs wouldnt cost much more to but a new one, can buy some single mattresses fairly cheap nowadays

Thank you. I forgot to say we live in a 1st floor flat with no garden and the mattress is super king size so it's not cheap to replace. With another DD due in 6 weeks I'm guessing we'll go through the same again over the next couple of years so in loathe to buy a new one when we only got it two years ago!

Ooops sorry i assumed it was a kids single bed! i would just scrub it best you can and then put a waterproof sheet on.

I would hire or beg a steam cleaner from a friend. Vanish carpet shampoo is quite good as well. I dont think it will come completely clean now though! I would put a waterproof cover on the bottom and then a cotton cover over it and replace the mattress in a couple of years. Ours got stained by our kids as oh hated waterproof covers so I just had a cotton one on there, in the end I replaced the mattress.

yeah im the same, i always lie a quilt ontop of the waterproof sheet so its not uncomfy to lie on
