Fabric softener & washing powder

I have to wash DHs work tops today and the label says no fabric softener. We are out of normal powder & only have 2in1 liquid capsules. Do I risk it just this once or stop being lazy and go to the shop even though I went yesterday.

Waterproof items and goretex type breathable items should never be washed with fabric softener. So if it's any of the above, I wouldn't.

the waterproof items often say, if they start letting water in due to soap or fabsoft residues, put them through a warm rinse to wash it out.

This will possibly not work if you have not been doing hot maintenance washes and you machine is clogged with soap sludge.
