Almat (Aldi) is great, its the only washing powder I'll use
you only need a tiny amt too, don't put in as much as you would with Ariel

Piffpaffpoff · 12/06/2012 18:29

I've just switched to Aldi (Almat?) from Persil and it seems just as good.

Susieloo · 12/06/2012 18:29

Aldi washing powder just came out at number one in a Which test, just bought some but not tried it yet, sounds promising though.

Anypointinseeingdoc · 12/06/2012 18:32

I use Aldi and find it very good. My mum uses Lidl and it is just as good.

Rainydayagain · 12/06/2012 20:10

Aldi, no probs need only a small amount.

Buy dw tabs they are good too.

ggirl · 12/06/2012 20:12

i have just ben using lidl one and it is fine no offensive smell ..still prefer the smell of fairy though

Yama · 12/06/2012 20:33

We use Aldi - no complaints.

suze28 · 12/06/2012 20:40

I've also used Aldi washing powder and find it just as good as any other. I'm interested to know how much less powder you all used, per wash. The recommended amount was 80g (approx 8tbsp) so I used 60g per wash. Do you use less?

PersonalClown · 12/06/2012 20:44

Aldi liquitabs used here. Gets all the food stains out of DS' school t shirts with no problem!

AnotherOnePlease · 12/06/2012 20:47

I use Lidl's "formil" liquid (they also do powder) which smells exactly like ariel, and is packaged to look exactly like ariel...

It's £2.29 (I think) for a 20 wash bottle, MUCH cheaper than ariel equivalent. Also agree with other posters that I get away with using much less.

Wolfgirl · 12/06/2012 22:11

Looks like I might try Aldi first, then Lidl.

thanks ladies Smile

I use Aldi tablets, and tend to use just one tablet instead of two.

SleepyFergus · 13/06/2012 03:12

I've just switched to Lidl tablets, and use 1 per load even though they come in packs of 2. Very happy so far with it.

They also do a gigantic box of the same powder but loose that I was a bit scared to commit to until I had tried it out, so I may switch to that once the tablets finish.

Babylon1 · 13/06/2012 03:15

Another fan of Aldi's Almat tabs here. Just as good as the big brands, but a quarter of the price Smile

Rainydayagain · 13/06/2012 06:49

I use a third of reccomended. Apparently tests have shown that it is just as effective.

It is and i have filthy toddlers!!

Jdub · 13/06/2012 10:41

I've just started using Lidl's lavender and Camomile Formil powder, and it smells lovely and works a treat! Formerly I was a Fairy girl

oreocrumbs · 13/06/2012 10:55

My DM uses Aldi almat powder. We have been staying at her house for a couple of weeks and I'm very impressed with it!

Have just bought my first box to take home with me Grin. It smells of washing powder which is nice (if you know what I mean - its not trying to be a spring meadow or tropical sunset, it smells of clean laundry).

GobbleLeKnob · 13/06/2012 10:58

I have recently changed to Aldi almat and am seriously annoyed that I have overlooked it all this time, it is brilliant and bargainous to boot.

Wigglewoo · 13/06/2012 11:06

I LOVE the aldi powder.... The non bio is great too. Its actually saved my washing machine from being over run with black mould (long story) but it really does work! And smells great!

For £3ish a box its just amazing value :) and I also love their fabric softener too... The ylang ylang one is lovely !

Wolfgirl · 13/06/2012 11:10

thank you ladies. Seriously, we are on 'breathe in till you die' budget and wash powder is heavily used in our house! I have been using ASDA colour, and try to buy when it is on the offer. I was always an aeriel fan, but that is such a no no these days Sad

So, Aldi it is.

xx

Wolfgirl the ASDA Smartprice powder is also very good, about £3.70 for a 60 wash box.

Rainydayagain · 13/06/2012 13:54

Wolf girl do you shop at aldi?

Do a shop you will be amazed at how much you save.
I don't really know how much people spend but we eat really well for £80 a week, lots of veg, meat, fruit and wine :-) same shop in tesco will be £140 ish!! Shocking.

3teenhell · 13/06/2012 14:43

Wolf girl agree with Rainy, try a shop at Aldi's. I wouldn''t go anywhere else now! We manage quite well on £65 a week 4 of us in the week and 6 at weekends.

QueenFuri · 13/06/2012 17:13

I bought a box of Almat today well I bought the tablets as I hate the mess powder makes my first wash with is in now so I'm not sure how well the clothes are going to cleaned. They smelled nice, I normally use Persil Non-Bio.

Wolfgirl · 13/06/2012 17:28

Rainydayagain et all... we kind of mix our shop, ASDA, Aldi, Lidl and occasionaly Tesco.

Yes, aldi is cheapest by far... shame they dont take a CC though
