How can I get rid of the smell?

We have an Ikea armchair (tub chair I think you call them) in the dining room and the removable cover on it stinks. Its a sort of fishy smell ( a bit like Copydex glue for those of us of a certain age that will remember its distinctive smell!)

I presume it must be something to do with the chemicals used to make it fire retardant??

I washed it when we bought it months ago but the smell never went and I've just put it through the wash again but I can still smell it when I got it out of the machine.

Any ideas? Thanks

(its been on the washing line drying all day. I've brought it in and it still smells, as does the washing machine and the utility room. Yuk)

How horrid! I am of that age that I know exactly what copydex smells of - yuk!!

If its relatively new, I would be complaining to Ikea as that sounds a bit odd (and unacceptable). Maybe part of a dodgy batch? They might be able to change the cover for you....

Try a rinse with plain warm water and white vinegar. about half/half, or vinegar then rinse.
