Cleaning the metally bits of a hob

I've finally set to today with the hob but it's not going very well.

Any tips on how to clean up the removable bits of a hob? I don't know what metal it is so I'll try to describe it.

It's a Neff gas hob and there's sort of a silver metal (iron?) immediately over the sparky gassy bit. These are the parts that look worst as they have gone black in parts with scorching. Then there's a flat black circle that fits over this and they've gone sort of rough but I can live with it.

Grateful for any wisdom!

Fairy Power is your friend. I think! Or soak them in soda crystals.

(Says she who also has scorched bits but hasn't bothered to clean them recently!)

I will dishwash this aft and if that doesn't work I'll have to invest in some crystals! Thank you :)
