My washing never smells as nice as everyone elses

Ever. And I've tried loads of different powders/ liquids etc.

Im incredibly lucky as my cousin sends all her ds's out grown clothes to us for our ds and they always smell gorgeous.

What do you use (please). Im thinking the dryer seems to take the nice smell away..

I use Method fresh air and it smells lovely and is eco. I hate over perfumed stuff, it makes me feel ill- Method products smell clean and not over powering.

DaisySteiner · 19/05/2012 16:19

I find mine smell nicer if I put smaller loads in. TBH I don't think heavily perfumed clothes are very nice any way, sometimes makes me feel a bit sick.

I use Surf which has a scent and then yellow lenor on top of that. The clothes smell nice but not as nice as my friend's who uses just Persil.

I use Bold 2 in 1 and have often have people comment on the nice smell.
But I guess it's personal. Daisy might heave if she got a whiff of it! Grin

Maybe Smile I don't mind being able to smell the detergent/conditioner, it's just if it's too overwhelming. I do like my own washing to smell of something, and people have commented that my washing smells nice. If my mum washes the children's clothes I have to re-wash them because of the smell. Mind you, she used 2 in 1 AND fabric conditioner Shock

I think that too Barbie! About my washing though, not yours Grin.

I've just started using Method Fresh Air liquid, so I'll see how that goes.

Are you doing maintenance washes? I've just used HG service wash, which made it smell nice and fresh. And DH is about to give the filter and the drawer a good clean too.

I wonder how much of it is just that other people's clothes just smell different to yours?

You will get used to the scent of your own powder and fabsoft, and not notice it. You will find the scent of other stuff that othere people use seems stronger.

If you change powders and fabsoft every few weeks, or use different ones alternately, it will seem to smell stronger to you.

If you used to smoke, and stop, you will be shocked to find that your clean clothes smell of soap powder, and your wardrobes and curtains smell of stale cigarettes.

I was going to ask the same question! I don't want 'perfumed' or flowery/essential oil scent - just old fashioned clean laundry. Any ides?

SoupDragon · 20/05/2012 13:59

Dry it outside.

IAmBooybilee · 20/05/2012 14:05

yep, line dried washing is the best smell IMO. i dont use fancric conditioner. i use white vinegar and when i put a few drops of lavender oild in the drum before i wash teh clothes. they always smell lovely.

Squeegle · 20/05/2012 14:07

Bold 2 in 1 lavender is lovely! I really revel in the scent of newly washed sheets and duvet. I also rather like ariel excel liquid, but it is rather too pricey, and only good for colours, so only buy it in special offer.
