Soapy taste in dishes from dishwasher

DH is convinced that everything we put in the dishwasher comes out tasting and smelling of soap. Mostly I think he is ridiculous, but I have to admit that today when he made me sniff the pan he was frying an egg in, I could smell it.

Has anyone had this? Any tips? Should I try different tabs? I use Fairy?

I was going to post about this the other day. I use Fairy as well (they were on offer!) and I can taste it on everything. Apart from the china stuff.

All my pans stink of it and the tupperware and plastic mixing bowls reek. I hate it. Sometimes my entire meal taste of dishwasher tablets.

No one else in my house believes me, they all think I've gone mad.

Surely they can make fragrance free dishwasher tablets?

Yep - I have this too and put it down to cheap d/w in rented flat. I've tried changing tablets from own brand to Fairy but there's still a metallic/soapy taste, especially on pans.

are you using lemon scented tabs?

correct rinse aid and salt?

I'm using Fairy All-in-One tabs - not lemon scented. Maybe we still need some rinse aid/salt??

Fairy all in one tablets here too, not lemon scented. And I have to top up with salt and rinse aid otherwise the dishwasher bleats at me.
